Empty Nesters
Transitioning To An Empty Nest
Many challenges await marriages that are ready to launch children or young adults. One challenge is ensuring your children succeed, transitioning from a parent to form an adult-to-adult relationship, and possibly perparing for them to return if hardship ensues. In the meantime, the husband and wife are learning what it means to be a couple again. As spouses find more time on their hands, it may be time to reassess work choices, nurture the marriage, and focus on new or existing friendships.
Growing Closer After Launch
The launching stage is a significant time for marital discord as the empty nest syndrome happens. If a couple has not kept engaged with one another romantically, they may have grown apart. This is a time to focus not only on yourself but the relationship as well. Our Empty Nest seminar will discuss strategies for dealing with this phase of life including determining when children are ready to leave, preparing for their return, growing from a parental to an adult relationship, how to bring excitement to your marriage, entrance of new family members (son-in-laws or daughter-in-laws), as well as the possibility of grandchildren.
